They’ve got answers!

I was chatting with one of my blogging friends awhile ago and she asked me why can’t she see me online as often as before and why are my blog posts so seldom. Then I started explaining to her about how busy we were with moving from one country to another and with all the holidays we booked before that. After enlightening her, she jokingly said…”Oh okay, I was starting to think you were pregnant.”

If my husband and I were pregnant, I am most certainly sure that we will let the whole world know that we are.

It is a long way from now but I know that I am not the only one excited about us having a child.  I am sure that my in-laws and my parents are dying to hear the news about us being pregnant. Actually, my mom already gave me some tips about how to get pregnant (haha).

Honestly, I am really curious how it is going to be so I started reading about pregnancy on the net and sure enough, I got loads of info about it. ParentsConnect.com is a great site offering information about pregnancy and parenting. They have answers to every question about pregnancy and the time before and after those wonderful nine months. They also offer tips on parenting a child from infancy to teens. And like the name of the site, it is really a place where parents can connect to each other by sharing experiences, giving tips about parenting, and simply talking to each other.

I think I am going to be a big fan of this site.

Out of touch

I’ve been so out of touch with the blogging world and although I update some of my blogs every now and then, I am not really updated with what’s new in this community.

I miss it.

I miss the time when I have all the day to blog, the time when I didn’t have to worry about anything but my blogging activity—creating entries, publishing entries, taking pictures, blog hopping, commenting in other peoples’ posts, social networking, bookmarking, etc.

Life is different since we learned that we must leave Shanghai.

Now that we are in Europe, I am experiencing a complete revamping of my daily routines and activities.

I hope that sometime soon, my blogging activity will go back to how it was.

Shocking News

I am back from my three-week-long holiday in the Philippines and there are some news in the blogging world that shocked me so much. First is that Wordpress.com is now unblocked in China. I’d say it is good for wordpress.com and for the people who live here and maintain a blog at wordpress.com but I am kind of annoyed. Imagine… in my three years of stay in China wordpress.com being blocked was one of my major blogging problems. Now that I am leaving the country for good, Wordpress.com is back on in this country. Very very ironic.

Second, Blogxi.com was suspended and is now on probation. I don’t know what happened with Blogxi in my absence but my webhost informed me that Blogxi has errors that are causing server slowdown so for a few days it was suspended. Now, it is on probation….meaning I have about a day or two to fix the errors. How do I do that when I don’t know what caused the errors? Sigh*

Third, Youtue.com is now blocked in China. Not that if affects my blogging activity so much but that is still shocking.

I don’t know what will happen in the next few days but my biggest concern now is fixing Blogxi. I hope I can do it before it gets suspended for good.

Frustrated WP Theme Designer

I was tweaking Blogxi.com’s theme the other day. I worked on it for hours only to realize at the end how insufficient my knowledge is about programming and coding.

I honestly want to learn. Not just to design beautiful graphic arts but also to code. I think these two are needed to create a Wordpress theme and I can’t do any of these.

I don’t know if I will ever have the chance to learn but I do hope so.

Updating to WP 2.7

I finished upgrading to Wordpress 2.7.

Five of my remaining self-hosted blogs, a friend’s blog, and Blogxi.com are now running on the newest version of Wordpress. It took my two good days to complete this work. I didn’t have trouble updating all of the blogs and also not with the my blogging community but I have to admit that I was a little bit nervous when I was updating Blogxi.

I don’t have a lot of active bloggers in Blogxi but the idea of ruining even a single person’s blog makes me nervous. I can’t do that! So I was really terrified when I was updating Blogxi. What happens if something goes wrong during the installation?

Luckily, all went well.

Blogxi is Free

I am happy to announce that Blogxi is now free again.

I didn’t do anything so I am surprise to learn today that I don’t have any problem accessing it.

It’s great that finally I can access it without the use of Proxy sites and Freegate.

For those who don’t know, Blogxi has been blocked for more than three months.

It will probably prompt to blog more often.

Blogs’ Ranks

Why does it always have to happen when we’re in Austria? I remember that in June I lost my PR 5 and all my PR 4s went down to PR 3s.

Now My Pink Notes, The Two Geeks, and My Take on Things went down from PR 3 to PR 2, Bizarre Marriage and Vienna Lopez went down from PR 3 to PR 1, Digitally Designed went from PR 4 to PR 2, Blogleafs went down from PR 4 to PR 1. Penny Wise, a blog formerly located here, is still PR NA.

My friend’s blog namely Pages after Pages went from PR 3 to PR 2 and A Lady’s Chest, previously PR 0, now have a PR 1.

So basically all my blogs’ PRs went down and I have a very good feeling why it happened. :D After almost a year and more or less 7,000.00$ total income from blogging, looks like it’s going to be downhill from here on but I will still keep my eight blogs.

Surprisingly, Blogxi.com now has a PR 2. Considering that I just finished the site about a few weeks ago and it was launched like 10 or 12 days ago, PR 2 for Blogxi is not bad.

Work and Listen

Here’s one cool thing I found for those people who can’t work without listening to something. Drum’n'Bass Radio is a small software you can download and use for the following to listen to online radio stations broadcasted with high quality from any site of your choice.

It is small software you can use with your Google toolbar and it versions for both FireFox and IE. It is free and you can be sure that it does not contain any spyware, malware or adware. It does not open pop-ups and does not require registration or any personal information.

Go visit DestructionMusic.com and download the software. Installation is easy but for those of you who are not sure…, they also have a step-by-step installation guide. It’s cool software to have. Get it now while it is still free.

Going to Wordcamp China 2008

Finally, I got the email I’ve been so eager to receive.

Hi, Vienna

The event starts at 13:00pm and ends around 17:00pm. Location is on Fudan University campus, check out the map here: http://china.wordcamp.org/location/ (by default it shows only the Beijing location. You will need to click on the button to the right in order to get the Shanghai location).

Matt’s talk starts at 13:30pm. Afterwards, all the talks and discussions will be in Chinese, so you might want to grab someone and ask them to translate for you. Many attendees are very fluent in English, so I am sure you will find many people to chat with.

With the RMB20 registration fee, you will get a T-shirt of the event and enter a raffle.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I am so going to the Wordcamp Shanghai China 2008 and I am so not going to miss any of it. :).
