Adding an RSS Link to Your Blog

One of the biggest mistakes in blogging is not providing a RSS link for your readers who would like to subscribe to your RSS. If you are using a Wordpress blog platform, your blog’s RSS URL is automatically be looking like this: http://www.blogleafs.com/index.php/feed/. Now there are some services on the web that will help you in maximizing the distribution of your blog’s contents by allowing readers with different RSS readers to subscribe to your posts.

FeedBurner is a web based application you can use to aggregate your syndicated web contents.

Here’s how:

1. Go to Feeburner.com
2. Type in your RSS URL in the provided space (ex: http://www.YOURBLOG.com/index.php/feed/) .
3. Create an account.
4. Activate Feed.
5. FeedBurner will provide a link to your feed.
6. Create a link on your sidebar to point to your FeedBurner feed.

You are done.

Two good things about using a web based application as an aggregator of your feeds is that you can track how many subscribers you have and you may give your readers the option to subscribe via email.
